Since the 1990s, Hackney Wick & Fish Island has grown to become one of London’s most important neighbourhoods for arts and the creative industries. Village Workspaces provides the space for you team to work effectively and efficiently and build those meaningful connections through our various member exclusive events and social gatherings.A campus for London’s leading fashion innovators We supports teams of all sizes from single person start ups, to multi-million dollar companies. Wether you like to work quietly and independently or out in the open surrounded by other coworkers, theres space for you. Here at Village Workspaces, we spent years doing research to design our space in such a way that it's accommodating to all types of workers. Having meaningful connects is very helpful, but so is the physical space you work in. An environment is everything to keeping us happy while we "work through it" so to speak. It's hard and stressful, and sometimes, we don't even want to be there. Work is much easier when you can rely on others for help in a pinch or can depend on them to finish their portion of the work for the day.Īs we all know, work isn't always fun. Connecting with coworkers also builds much stronger trust and comradery within the group. Something that I personally find incredibly important to a team's success. Apart from improving the way we feel about going into work, connecting with our coworkers makes it much easier to collaborate on solutions and improves overall communication between the team. The benefits of interacting and making connections with coworkers as people are far reaching. We begin to learn about our coworkers as people and not just as "the person who deals with the vendors". Natural and organic interactions with those you work with create genuine feelings or appreciation and understanding. Having the buffer of being on the company's dime reduces that financial stress and makes entering these situations much easier. Living is expensive today, and chances are, not many of us are willing to spend our own money to hang out with those we work with right away. Outings such as team lunches, cocktails after work, or maybe even something fun and creative such as an escape room are excellent ways to get your team together and socialize. If companies want teams to connect and build team unity, it's going to cost them to facilitate that. Work is already hard enough, and by the end of the day, most of us just want to go home. Pizza parties at work and uncomfortable icebreakers wont do the job. As I mentioned before, no one is saying you need to make friends at work, but having a bad day at work or needing some extra help with a task is much easier when you are familiar with your coworkers. It helps the slower part of our days go by faster, as well as improves our mood. ![]() Making meaningful connections with our coworkers can only benefit us. This can lead to feelings of resentment or indifference about those we work with which can affect our performance. You are not required to be friends with your coworkers, but to seem them as objects to tolerate while we work isn't great either. While this may be true, it's also important to make meaningful connections with those we work with. Working has taken on a different meaning to us as we see our jobs and careers as a means to enjoy the life we want. ![]() The days of "company loyalty" may be ending as employees increasingly seek a work/life balance. Lithography Angel Bay with a Bouquet of Roses by Marc Chagall, 1967, color lithograph Sometimes a linoleum sheet is put on a block of wood to create the printing block and other times it is just a full piece of linoleum.ĥ. The act of pressing the linoleum block onto the surface can be done by hand or through the help of a printing press. After removing these pieces, a roller, or a brayer is used to apply ink to these raised areas before it is pressed onto a piece of paper or fabric. Artists cut into a piece of linoleum with a sharp knife or a gouge. Linocut printing is a relief style of printmaking, very similar to Woodcuts. Later, Pablo Picasso became the first artist to use multiple colors on a single linoleum plate. Before that, Linocuts were used to print designs on wallpaper. What remains after an artist chips, sands or cuts the excess wood away is the image that will be inked, raised above the negative space. Woodcut prints begin with a woodblock and then the areas that the artist does not want inked are removed. The Woodcut method is a relief style of printmaking and the opposite of intaglio. Woodblock printing was used most often to create books before the invention of moveable type printing press. In European art, Woodblock printing is referred to as Woodcut printing though there is no notable difference. Ukiyo-e Woodblock prints are the most well-known example of this printmaking method. Later, this same method was used to print on paper. Its use dates back to antiquity where it was originally used to print patterns on textiles. Woodblock printing was widely used in East Asia. The acid will eat away at the now exposed metal and cause indentations where the artist removed the wax. The artist will then scratch this waxy material off where desired and dip the block into an acid. To create the plate, an artist will begin with a block of metal and cover it with a waxy, acid-resistant material.
